Little mirror – Little mirror: Installations, photographs and performance
At the moment the city of Buenos Aires counts on an enormous quantity of alternative spaces in the galleries of “official” arts, where one can see both individual and collective works. These are spaces that often are an extension of the same galleries, which are trying to cover many interests and to promote their own projects and artists. In this case of the commercial urban center where the gallery of contemporary art DACIL presents the work Little Mirror – Little mirror, combining the esthetics of 6 artists working with photography and the facilities: Fabiana Barreda, Adriana Carambia, Mariela Constant, Leonel Luna, Rocío Coppola y Lucas Marin. For the inauguration the past 3rd of May, there was also a performance by the artist Sol Storni.
The work puts the focus on the theme of individual identities, the trace of personalities that are painted in the works, the cultural roots that are visible and a social imagination transcending towards the own artist. From there derives the name of the work.
The sculptural facilities of Adriana Carambia enrolls into that frame, following a line of work by the artist gave the name «Biomorfismo Textil», where organic systems of different dimensions are created with diverse constructive dispositions. The volatile of the fabric as a support gives an extra complexion to the structure in the time of affirming it in the space, motif of which the artist recovers the biomorphic sculptures with resin, plaster, lacquer and latex to give it solidity. In tune with the theme of the work, Carambia tries to capture these presences, these moments of manifestations on both an individual and collective level and the human constructions.
There are two sculptural facilities that take part in the work. With the words of the artist “The work The solitude of the prime numbers represents a multiplicity of the biological shapes. They materialize the relations between them, the unknown of themselves. At the time each one of them is a unity in itself; it can read itself as one and isolated. In the multiplicity there is not just diversity and a difference, there is also a companion and solitude. Urban landscape represents pictures of nature; it explores the organic eroticism of the flowers and the meeting between them. The sensual centers are frames of the origin and the vital strength”. An interesting plus is that the work. The solitude of the prime numbers was selected for the Salon National in the category of textile art in 2011.
